Interior

Well, what can we say about the interior, just that there was not much of it !!!  The headlining was gone, the door cards and side panels were basic. There was a bench seat with a buttoned back. As the car is 1954 vintage it didn't need seat belts.

Job 1 - The roof lining

What a tricky job, but with a bit of patience, a lot of cursing and a couple of "faux pas" we finally got a respectable headlining in.  Looks pretty slick, especially with the electric blue neon's (a touch of max power here) discretely tucked into the headlining.

Jobs 2,3,4,5 etc etc

If we were going to propel ourselves down a track at speed the car needed proper seats and full harness seat belts. So the next job was to remove the bench seat, which begat other problems......

Removal of the old bench seat - No major problem there, but getting the two narrow buckets in a position where Adam (lanky legs) could fit meant they had to go as far back as possible where the seats did not touch in the middle and missed the extended internal wheel arches. Finally they were in. They still need to come out again as they need to be dropped 50mm to allow a better view out of the narrow slit that is the front window without having to stoop over.

The tinted Perspex Side "port holes" (that I think looked very cool) had to be removed as they were not very see through, so a light smoke was put in and increased visibility 98% from previous!!!!.

The floor console that housed the switches was removed and a new centre console made, the edges are carpeted in black and the facia in carbon fibre. We re-did the switches but they were still not to out liking. Going to have to replace the switches.

Nov 04 - Still didn't like the switches or the carbon Fibre. The speedometer was way out of calibration (18mph at 50mph!!) so the whole lot has gone. The dials have been replaced by white facia instruments, with a brushed ally dashboard. This looks a whole lot better, seats are now dropped two inches and you can now drive without a crick in the neck.

March 05 - New two button Steering wheel is going in, one button for the Nitrous and the other for the Line Lock.  The nitrous is controlled by three switches, 1 to Arm the system which is illuminated, the second two work together, one is on the accelerator to ensure that the throttle is fully open so that there is no fuel starvation and the other on the steering wheel. All three have to be "on" for the nitrous to be used.
